Stretch, Lift or Tap (SLoT) is an evidence-informed movement program developed by the Regional Geriatric Program of Toronto (RGP) for older adults with frailty living in the community.
SLoT is a philosophy and a set of tools designed to encourage older adults to embed functional exercise in their daily activities.
The Stretch Lift or Tap (SLoT) program resources include a variety of options for older adults, healthcare providers and organizations to choose from, such as a menu of activities, an action plan, a tracking sheet, virtual games, short videos, and a facilitation package. This evidence-informed program has been pilot tested with 247 older adults and 6 community organizations. Results revealed improvement in health and well-being; increased confidence in adding more movement to daily activities; and an increase in mobilization rate (adding extra movement 3 times a week or more). To promote health equity, the resources are available in 14 languages, and are free for anyone to use.
